A Scene of Insecurity

It's in moments when we're caught completely off guard that we discover just how creative we really are—and that's exactly what happened during one unforgettable Improv class...

I was performing with my scene partner when my improv teacher said, "Just be yourself and have a conversation."

It started off fairly normal, but little did I know my partner was about to turn the tables on me.

"So, what do you do for work?" he asked.

"Marketing," I replied.

Then, out of nowhere, he said, "Oh, well, I'm smarter than you, and I make more money because I'm in engineering."

My classmates were stunned.

Instantly, I felt myself about to charge into full defense mode, ready to argue how marketing shapes the way people see the world. But quickly, I realised this would only become a meaningless back-and-forth.

Suddenly, it hit me like a bolt of lightning—a way to respond directly to the core of the attack.
I have no idea where the voice came from, but I calmly said, "You sound insecure."

He paused, then replied with just one sentence that ended the scene immediately: "Oh yes, I am. I'm highly insecure."

The Science

In high-pressure situations, we tend to:

  • Feel cornered

  • Breathe shallowly, which dysregulates our nervous system

  • Perceive our options as limited

  • Default to a fight-or-flight reaction

But I want to show you a better way...

In this workshop, you'll experience what this creative rush feels like in your body—a method to respond creatively and in control.

In fact, research shows that improv training can reduce anxiety, increase cognitive flexibility, and boost social confidence, especially for introverts (Lewis & Lovatt, 2013; Felsman et al., 2018).

Through scene work (because it helps you feel "seen"), you'll uncover how to handle challenging conversations using your own authentic voice.

Let’s play!

What is Improv?

While Improv is best known for its role in comedy, theatre, and acting, its transferrable skills go far beyond the stage.

The techniques you'll discover in this workshop help you think quickly, remain calm under pressure, and manage challenging conversations.

These skills are particularly useful for navigating high-stress situations at work, or for helping you get what you want in a negotiation.

Improv empowers introverts to confidently communicate, create meaningful connections, and stay creatively in control.

What to Expect:

  • This is not a sit-down workshop. Through interactive improv exercises, we’ll explore dating dynamics in a way that’s fun, engaging, and filled with creative choices.

  • You'll be on your feet the whole time (literally and figuratively)!

  • You’ll leave with practical skills, renewed confidence, a belly-full of laughter.

This workshop is ideal for:

  • People with some Improv experience - we will be doing scene work.

  • Introverts - who are ready to explore and unleash their creative self.
